Sewers and non sewers can join together to make American Hero Quilts. Heirloom quality quilts are presented to wounded service members as they return stateside from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Sew Days will be the 3^rd Sunday of the month from 12:30 to 4:30.

LOG CABIN is the block and directions are listed below. You can bring your sewing machine and your own rotary cutter and come to the sew day. If you would prefer not to bring your machine come to the sew day and there will be other jobs like pressing and hand stitching of bindings that can be done. If you can’t come to spend the day and wish to donate blocks or a quilt top please be sure that the fabric selection meets the criteria for the quilts. Please be careful with your fabric selection, it is important to use fabric that will not cause further infections. PLEASE DO NOT use fabric with sparkles, glitter, flannel or corduroy. Please stitch all seams down. The folded corners that are open and add to the character of our quilts can also catch IV’s.

Suggested quilt sizes are 55” X 65” to 69” X 90.” For the most part our wounded warriors prefer the larger size quilt so they can wrap up in them.

These quilts are metaphoric HUGS presented to Heroes. Please be sure to use good quality 100% cotton that has been washed and the quilt can be treasured for years to come.

Center – 2 ½” square out of yellow or gold colored fabric

Light (L) 2 ½”, 4 ½”, 6 ½” and 8 ½”

Dark (D) 4 ½”, 6 ½”, 8 ½” and 10 ½”

Now located at: 7716 –D Pioneer Way in downtown Gig Harbor.

Take the Wollochet/City Center exit from Hwy 16 and turn toward downtown and the water. Head down the hill (Pioneer Way) and we are on the left side of the road about 2/3 down the hill. The building has a large aqua colored overhang. We are open Mon – Sat 10am to 5pm and Sun 12 noon to 5pm.
